5 Inexpensive Ways to Organize Your Home for Summer
Summer is nearly here and it’s time to get your home organized for a new season. Need some inspiration? Here are some easy and inexpensive ways to get your home organized, tidy and decluttered.
1. Your first step should be sorting out your stuff. To make this task easier, try answering these simple questions for each item in question: when have I used it last? (if it’s been a long while, ditch it); how many such items do I have? (remember – less is more); do I really need it? (if not, donate because others probably do). Once you have everything sorted, it’s time to organize.
2. A really good trick for organizing all your electronic accessories such as cables, power banks, flash drives and the like, is to use zip lock bags. First, gather all your cords, roll them up and secure with a rubber band. Then, label the bags and place the cords and other accessories in separate, labeled bags and store in a drawer.
3. Keep all surfaces as decluttered as possible – desktop, bathroom counter, kitchen counter and coffee table. If needed, add new storage units where you can hide the stuff you use daily and leave only a few items on display.
4. To declutter your laundry room, get yourself a sturdy storage unit that can carry enough weight. Neatly place your laundry detergent, fabric softener, stain remover and other relevant items on the unit. Also, to make life easier use two laundry baskets – one for your delicates and one for your regular laundry. This will save you precious sorting time on laundry day.
5.Nooks and crannies around the home are a great storage space so utilize them! Use baskets to store regularly used items such as books and toys, and boxes for winter items such as boots and blankets.
